Stemilt
Watershed
The orchards of this watershed east of the Cascade
Mountains in Washington grow some of the best tree
fruit in the world. The watershed’s natural beauty has
also made it a popular place to live and retire, and TPL
has been working with a broad array of local interests to
develop a conservation vision to preserve water, agriculture, wildlife, and recreation. TPL recently released a
detailed report based on this visioning process.

Bloomingdale
Trail
Nearly three miles long, this planned trail along a former elevated railroad line will link four diverse, densely
populated, and park-poor neighborhoods on Chicago’s
northwest side. At the city’s request, TPL is managing
the private side of the public-private partnership that
will create the trail and is acquiring land for parks that
will double as trail access points. Photo: Darcy Kiefel
