Bluffton
Oyster Co.
For more than 80 years, the Bluffton Oyster Company
has been harvesting oysters, shrimp, and crabs from the
May River in Beaufort County, South Carolina. Now
operating on county-owned land in the historic Old
Town section of Bluffton, the oyster company’s retail
market is popular with locals and tourists alike. TPL
recently helped the county acquire additional acreage at
the site to create a park and improve public access to

Located between the Los Angeles Basin and the
booming communities of the San Fernando Valley,
California’s Santa Monica Mountains offer essential
recreation in one of the nation’s most densely populated
regions. In November, TPL helped protect from development nearly 650 acres of the last undeveloped coastal
canyon in Los Angeles County. The addition to Malibu
Creek State Park will offer hiking and other recreation
and make possible a critical connection for a proposed
